A founding partner in the Hampton firm of Holmes & Ells, PLLC, Gary has for the past 15 years limited his practice to helping his clients with wealth transfer strategies which include Estate, Tax, Medicaid, Special Needs, Charitable and Asset Protection planning.
He earned his A. B. (1968) and Law (1971) degrees from Boston University. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar, the Federal District Court for New Hampshire and The First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of WealthCouncil, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and has been designated as an Accredited Estate Planner by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. He has also been conferred the designation of Advanced Wealth Strategist Planner by the Esperti Peterson Institute.
Gary spent the first part of his career handling real estate and business transactions, and was often in court litigating municipal issues. For the past 15 years he found his passion and purpose in helping people make a difference in the lives of their loved ones. Through a unique process his clients uncover their concerns and goals and with good counseling and their best thinking, they create a plan that often can save taxes, avoid unnecessary expense and create certainty and peace of mind. His clients often will express their appreciation as they learn how to protect their legacy to loved ones from creditors, predators and spendthrifts.
Gary has been for over 40 years a strong advocate and supporter of professional and community services that support the unmet needs of the poor and elderly who are at risk. He has served on numerous committees of the Bar Association as well as with his church and on the Board of local, state and world wide charities. Gary has two grown sons and lives with his wife in the seacoast area.

He graduated from Ricker College (B.A.) in 1971 and from Western New England University School of Law (J.D.) in 1976. He was admitted to the New Hampshire Bar and to the New Hampshire Federal District Court in 1976 and he serves as a Neutral for the New Hampshire Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. He is also a Fellow in the New Hampshire Bar Foundation.

Attorney Ells practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Administration, Real Estate Law, Land Use Law, Corporations and Limited Liability Companies and offers services as a qualified intermediary for IRS Section 1031 exchanges.
A Member of the First Congregational Church of Hampton, UCC and the Hampton Rotary Club, Attorney Ells has served on a number of Boards for local and non-profit organizations and resides in Hampton, NH with his wife Keaton. They have two adult children.
Attorney Jennifer Hoover joined Holmes & Ells in 2016 and brings to the firm close to three decades of experience. She focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, probate and trust administration, asset protection, elder law and Medicaid planning, special needs planning, guardianships, and real estate law. She is licensed in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Many of our clients will know Jennifer from her many years working as a paralegal at the firm. She attended law school during this time and, after graduating from law school, practiced for five years with her father, Arthur Hoover, until his retirement. After her father’s retirement, Jennifer returned to Holmes & Ells as an attorney with a thriving practice helping individuals and families plan for the future. She has committed her career to providing high quality legal services with a personal touch and going the extra mile for her clients.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from Massachusetts School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys
Jennifer is a New Hampshire native and makes her home in Rochester with her husband and two children.
